Not very happy,, got a 2.9tdi, 64k miles, 1999model.

While out driving oil pressure warning light came on and what sounded like tappets rattling, pulled over just about to turn off ignition and engine stops, Locked up not sure how bad yet, took off oil cap nasty burnt smell and smoke and bone dry rockers, sump full, guess to be oil pump, anyone have any comments, and do you reckon just top end problem or whole engine?, replace or rebuild?, lots of questions, hopefully lots of answers.

cheers

If oil pump has gone and engines stopped dead, your looking at major rebuild, bottom end will be toast, top end not far behind.

Ear;ly models had oil pump issues iirc

Hello Crikey

I have no idea how you look after your vehicle but if it's been serviced as required 64k is not a lot of milage.

Early Sedona's did indeed have pump issues and as Murph' is suggesting this could be an engine rebuild, perhasp you might consider contacting Kia UK and see if they are prepared to help you.

I bought my low milage Sedona last year, while I was researching and checking the local mart' mags' and auction sites I came across four 1999 examples for sale where the engine was replaced/rebuilt due to pump failure by Kia who covered the costs even tho' two were way out of waranty.

Don't raise your hopes to high, your's is what-- a six year old vehicle
but if you don't ask-----------

well, I would check oil level, replace oil pump and ... try to crank.
I had a car that stopped engine by itself due to low oil pressure. I was surprised, or maybe it was just a coincidence.

In my opinion, it should not be so bad. If you stopped right away after you noticed the warning light - we are talking about seconds.
