I have a 2002 Sedona that my wife says hesitates first thing in the morning. She doesn't notice it after driving it a while. I found a TSB on reprogramming the ECM and wondered if this would fix our problem. Thanks in advance

Hi Matts,
I'm not sure if it's the same problem as I've got on my 2002 Sedona. At the moment the only indication that there may be something wrong is that I sometimes notice what I would call a dead spot on the accelerator changing from 1st to 2nd. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's only when the engine is cold. I've just been thinking that it was all in my head & simply hoped it would go away after a while. As for reprogramming anything, I wouldn't have a clue where to start! Let me know if this sounds anything like the problem you're having & also if you get any joy sorting it.

Cheers

matts, can you describe the hesitation? Does it act fuel starved, like there is a miss, or like a tranny problem? Check engine light on?

Hello Alimands,

I don't think Matt's or your issue are the same thing.

Taking into account Matt's Sedona will be a petrol version, your's is diesel
you are absolutly right there is a momentry flat spot in the acceleration and if you don't know about it, 'esus your heart goes somewhere.

I don't know enough about diesels to say if this is usual but it is documented with some diesel Sedonas.

However there is a much more serious issue to do with acceleration which I have already posted with no real sucess but I shall try again under a diffrent thread.

I suppose in any event my Sedona will have to have it's ECU codes read.

Hello Canakia,

I really, really did try to work out what TSB stood for, honest.

Great links, thank you.

I took the Sedona to the dealership to have the computer (ECM) version updated. It turns out that my dealer didn't have the right adapters for my computer. Kia is sending me a brand new computer and told them to replace it. Score one for me!

Matts,

Are you still under warranty or having to fork over a wad of cash?
