Thumbs down

Hi,
I have just imported a Kia Carnival 2.5A, everything is great, apart from the heater not working. When the dial is turned to hot, there is a slight noise that comes from the console, indicating something changed, fans are working, but no hot air at all, front or back.

How does the heater system work?
Is it possible to get diagrams of the Carnival, or workshop manuals? Very difficult to come by these things in Zimbabwe.

Thanks for any assistance in advance...

Hi Leslie

I have had the same problem. It may not be for the same reason but I thought it might be worth replying to you. Mine turned out to be because I had lost coolant from the cooling system, this then means there is either an air lock or no hot coolant available to heat the air being blown through your heater. Mine also unfortunately caused my head to crack

I would the check the water level by topping up at the radiator cap (not the plastic expansion bottle) and don't do this when the engine is hot. If you need more than half litre or so you are losing coolant which needs checking out.

Another thing I found is that my rear heater pipes were badly corroded and leaking. This is apparently very common and is because they are partly meatl and kia does not underseal them from new. When they start to go you will lose coolant.

Hope that helps.
