I am interested so I can compare my oil analysis to some one else's if anyone has done any. Long story short for recap for those that don't know I have popped 2 motors (amanti) and have started running analysis to keep an eye on things, only 630 miles on the 1st sample from the new engine. I will be pulling the 2nd sample this weekend with over 2k miles. But I have a Sedona same motor pulled a sample off of it as well, still looks good but the flash point was low as was the viscosity and this engine is also rather rough in cold weather at start up, cold weather roughness was a key sign in both motors I have lost.
Anyone else pull a sample and had it come back similar?
i have a sample container from "balckstone" to be sent out at the end of 3000 miles with the dealer oil, i am on my second engine. this engine has piston rattle cold. i consider the 3.5 v6 to be a junk engine
I've tried synthetic, it was no help for piston rattle when cold. On the sample I got back from blackstone yesterday the aluminum was high, viscosity and flash point where low, fuel was high and water was high for relatively low miles (1740), this was on a 32k mile engine.
My initial numbers on the new engine look good in comparison but its still to early to say, I will be sending the new engines 2nd sample on saturday with just over 2k miles on the oil.
Some thing that was interesting on the Sedona's analysis was a low tbn of 3.4 with only 1740 miles. Tbn of 3.4 would seem to indicate an oil that was not going to make it to 3000 miles with active additives. I am awaiting Terry Dyson's interpretation of the report.
So, is there anything good about the Kia Sedona? The construction of the body is crap (as one lady put in an online review, "It dents if you look at if funny"), the A/C is mediocre, the mileage is poor, the accessories (including gauges) are questionable, I've heard scary stories about the transmissions, and even tires wear out ahead of time.
My last and only hope was that the engine was solid. But, it isn't?

I am from australia and I am unsure if this v6 engine is the one that is going to be in the new KIA grande (recent upgrade to the carnival/sedona) over here. Is there anyone who can provide the specs of this engine and what it is based on??

This engine, the 3.5 V6, is based on the Mitsubishi 3.5 V6. Also used by Hyundai.
The Australian Carnival has always used the Rover-based KV6 2.5 V6. The NEW Grand Carnival likewise uses the new Mitsubishi 3.8 V6 as used in the new Mitsubishi 380. This is currently the most powerful 6 in Oz.

Interesting. The New '06 Kia Sedona in the U.S. uses an all new 3.8L V6, entirely Hyundai sourced. Nothing to do with Mitsubishi...

This engine is based on the Mitsubishi 3.8 lt that is currently fitted to the 380,which is replacing the Magna.I think in the US it was badged the Diamante.Hope this helps.Cheers Len
Ah, the Diamante was discontinued in the U.S. in 2004.
FWIW,
I know that all current Hyundia/Kia vehicles sold in the U.S. are now equipped (or soon will be) with 100% Hyundai designed and built engines (with exception of 2006 Amanti and Sorento with the Mitsu based 3.5L) They are both getting the Hyundai 3.8L (state of the art, high output all aluminum engine) for 2007 (not related to the Mitsu 3.8L available in the Galant, Endeavor, Eclipse, outgoing Montero)
I find it is interesing that they are still using Mitsu designed engines overseas in new models... Are you sure your source is correct?
