I reckon my clutch is slipping. Also getting a bit of a crunch on the gears as well.

For a phase-II '2.9CDRI' model , has anybody ever priced up getting this job done EG :-

- cost for full KIA dealership supply/fit
- cost for just the plates/rel brg kit from KIA
- cost for full job done at a clutch fitting specialist to do the full supply/fit job ( any names / suggestions ? )
- cost for alternative supply of the clutch kit ( any names / suggestions ? )
- anyone know what the actual brand name of the original clutch is ? EG Valeo??

C'mon Murphwiz, this one is right up your street

No idea of costs, but it's a subframe down job, so lots of hours.

...yeah I had this bookmarked and also asked the seller to verify that the clutch assy was correct for my car ( description in the add is quite vague )
But they haven't responded after about 4 days so its not looking good.

Anyway....this might sound expensive, but when you take a step back and think of the cost of the clutch and all the agro, I've got a quote from'Mr Clutch' for £380 quid all in with 2yr warranty.

I loathe to think of parting with that kind of money for a service, but knowing this is a MAJOR job in which lots can go wrong, I'm inclined to take the plunge and go for it

Review here Mr Clutch 1 and here Not very informative.

They are Franchised so doubt some will be better than others, but hopefully the top dogs will have ensured they are all the best in their field..

Its booked for next week. Dropping it off next Thursday pm in Manchester with a view to collect on Saturday.

busy day next Thursday!
-will start off going to work in Leeds...then take a flexi-pm to go home and meet the wife on Rochdale.
-she has to follow me down to Manchester to dump the car for the clutch
-then we race off to Preston to collect a 15" LCD monitor/telly I bought off ebay ( to use as PC screen , in car 12v screen for long trips & finally the caravan telly! )
- then we race back to Rochdale to get the kids out of school
- then I'm off out back down Manchester to see the Depeche Mode gig

I'll feel like Ray Liotta at the end of the Goodfellas film....keep looking out in the sky thinking helicopters are tailing me
