Hi all,
Tonight I did a bit of part removal in my engine bay, Primarily to do a final final check my injection system is common rail...it is...phew!!

1. Since I got it, its had the sedimentor light triggered all the time. It supposedly had a new fuel filter 9000 miles ago according to its service record. Anyway, I pulled the filter out and drained it. Its drain plug was actually combined as a water sensor plug. But when I primed the system up again an started the car....the light was still on, so I guess I've got a duff sensor.

2. I think my cooling fan is jammed, It might tie in with my suspension the A/C isn't working very well. I could hear the fan buzzing but it was not happy to freewheel. Oh well that another job tomorrow. It looks like its held on by two screws and the bottom. I hope I don't have to strip all the rad & condensor off...

The one thing that concerns me is the soundproof foam had melted all over the no1 & No4 injectors. I later had to srape it all of the injectors with a screwdriver.

Anyone ever seen any post about duff sedimentor sensors or melting foam before now ?

You can disconnect the water sensor to put the light out.

The melted foam is caused by loose injectors, looks like yours could be loose still!!
Fairly well known issue, modified bolts were issued etc.

Okay then,

So far I've stumbled across :-
-rusty tailgates
-sedimentor light sticking on
-melted foam on engine cowel caused by 'loose injectors'

this in in 3 days of ownership.

Can you elaborate on what needs doing to rectify the injectors and why isn't it a saftey recall given the pressure of the fuel????

-what other 'common' flaws should I look at for, eg is the busted cooling fan common to fail as well?

my aircon randomly broke... I would be pretty anoyed if I just bought a car that had so many things wrong with it.

Nope, only got it on Saturday. But I see a post about a German plugin device on Ebay,
Was it someting that pluuged in between the multiplug right at the front of the engine ( the purple coded one )

I've heard about cheap plug-in devices which crudely play around with the signal from one sensor ( forgot which )But I thought the best ones were the devices which plugged into the ECU itself.

I note the other posters comments suggesting I've bought a lemon. But its a leather trimmed 1-owner lemon I only paid £6.4k for.....

Yes I think so but my engine is diffrent to yours

I know of two German sites I went with the Profitune product not just because of Dubana's and Clarksonly postings, but there is a diffrence in price Profitune
being the more exspensive and I do believe in most cases you get what you pay for, I did e-mail the other company with details of my vehicle, they wrote back saying they couldn't supply.

Where did you get yours from?

I saw your pictures, excellent, I wish more people would do it, by the way I would do so on this forum, I'm doing something wrong, how does one attatch pictures?

Timing Belt Sedona
I have had my timing belt change 3 months ago, when I pick it up my Sedona was ideling rough. In the last 3 months the fuel pump, altanator, battery and a cable to control fuel blew. I ask the dealer if these problems could of happen because the timing belt in not in right...he said no and that the timing belt is in right......can anyone help me....My Sedona still idels rough and waiting for something eles to go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loose injectors..
The allen bolts that secure the clamp for the injectors can work loose, a redesigned bolt was introsuced, just a few mm shorter to fix this.
Just check your bolts are done up tight, but not to tight as they have a habit of snapping! and that will cause you some serious grief!

Timing belt:
If it's tidling rough and this has only happened since belt change then I'd guess thje valve timing is out, needs to be checked, an engine will run with it 1 maybe 2 teeth out, but won;t run right at all.

I'l take a further look at the clmap bolts in the near future , I will probably buy a fresh set. I'd love to see KIA try and charge something stupid like £10 for four screws...

next issue:

Last night I removed the lower bolts to the cooling fan becuase it was crudded up with leafs and dirt.The fan was just grating. I still don't know for sure whether the fan is working so next I'll put 12v across the terminals. I am now also convinced the A/C isn't functioning. If it was then the fan would kick in. All the piping and condenser looks a-okay so I think I've either got a leaked out system , a knackered compressor or a simple electrical glitch actuating the system.
Does anyone know of any common A/C faults on the Sedona before I see an aircon specialist for a check-report?
