Default Help identifying part - Heater control 2005 Sedona

Hi, trying to help my Mom out here. Her heater stopped working, it just blows cold air all the time. I pulled the glove box and can see that when she turns the cool/heat knob there is some kind of actuator behind the dash (against the firewall) but it doesn't move. I hooked it with a coat hanger and pulled the "lever" towards me and the heat starts coming through the vents. Figure it must be some kind of relay or actuator that has failed, but KIA won't help me with parts. They want around $500-$800 to fix it, but it is probably a $50 part. The lever has a wire plug on it that goes towards the center dash panel so I figure that is the right place to start troubleshooting.

Any ideas are appreciated, she is almost 80 and we can't afford this at Christmas time (or any time).

Where do you live? I could send you a pic, or you cound go to you local Kia dealership to look at their parts catalog. You could also try KGIS to pull up a photo of the heater/AC box under the dash. Sounds like you need a mode actuator, but there are 3 different ones in your heater box.

I'm in Orange, CA. The dealer here didn't want to help, just take my mom's car into their shop for a lot of cash.

I went through their website a little to look for the part and a schematic but didn't see anything related to the heater that looked like the parts I see under the dash. The lever/controller I see only has 2 screws holding it in place, should be a simple replacement if I could just figure out what to buy.

Go to kiatechinfo.com (KGIS) you can resgister for free. This web site will have the pics you need to look for the actuator.

Jeff, PM me your VIN. I'll take a look at the parts catalog and see if I can get you a part number.

Hi Cobra, I am having the same problem as ShoeKia although my problem is not really that urgent as I live in South Florida.

I have been all over Kia Techinfo, and I find no information on the heater. I also have another problem though, which is that I cannot pull up any electrical information at all on Kia Sedona 2003. My son has a Sephia 2001, and I can get all the Electrical Schematics by clicking on ETM, and then following the particular subsystem until the right electrical drawing displays. In the case of the Sedona, when I try the same thing, everyting seems to work, but then when I try to display the particular subsystem schematic, all I get is a blank page. Do you know where I can get the Sedona Electrical diagrams?

Many thanks in advance
