Default KIA Sedona "ESC" malfunctioned

My 2006 Kia sedona lx "ESC OFF" warning malfunctioned. When this "ESC OFF" warnig light malfunctioned, your van will loose power on acceleration.
If you are starting from stop or standing point you get less acceleration than
normal, but you can slowly gain speed up to 40mph on flat road. This 'ESC OFF" malfunction is dangerous when you are driving on freeway, you could loose acceleration and you could get into serious or fatal accident on freeway. I took it for repair at the KIA auto service and it costed me for diagnostics and "throttle position sensor" replacement for $750. The sad thing this "throttle position sensor" is not covered on warranty. My van has only over 61,000 miles on it.

I suggest to future buyers don't buy any vehicle that has "ESC" on them.
"Electronic Stability Control", these ESC do easily malfunction on KIA sedona.
This ESC is only use for skidding to control your speed and is only good for
snowy conditions. My two key lock remote control both died after only about
a year and half of using them. I will never buy a KIA again. I will sell my KIA
sedona as soon I get it back.

My suzuki sidekick has over 163,000 miles on it and there was no warning
lights ever pop up on my dashboard. It has basic controls, crank windows,
no "ESC" and no remote lock key. I will never buy a vehicle that has too many electronically controlled gadgets of parts. I want a vehicle that has only basics. I don't like headache just like I experienced on this KIA sedona again.

ESC might save your life one day.
If you don't want ESC and you don't want it interfering with normal acceleration turn the ESC off with the dash switch.

Whoever diagnosed and replaced the sensor ripped you off bigtime. Here at my shop you would have only been charged about $250 plus tax, that's parts, labor, and diagnosis.

"esc" is only useable when you are skidding on snow or mud. where i live it hardly snow's; if it does, it's usually only half inch to an inch.
i don't care for the "esc",besides when it's snowing i use my suzuki sidekick
and is equipped with 4x4 wheel drive. also, when it's snowing the risk on your life
is hardly severe, because when it's snowing you can "only" drive 10 to 20mph.
unless you fall down on a cliff.

i agree with you matty, i felt i got ripped off for $750 at kia to replace my throttle sensor. the mechanic told me the throttle sensor part was $420.

they didn't completely solved the problem on my kia sedona. the "esc"warning light came on again and there was no velocity. I took it back to kia auto shop and called me today monday and told me they haven't found the real problem. i suspect it might have been a different problem rather than the "throttle positions sensor". l think they are trying to deny what the real problem was. it might not even be the throttle sensor. it could possibly only be a small malfunction and it might only cost me around 3-$400. i think they tried to lie to me so i will not ask for refund in case the real problem only cost less than $750.
by the way where is your shop located?

You are all getting ripped off. I bought the Throttle Position Sensor for $4 from Kia parts department, and installed it myself in under 10 minutes.
