Default 2003 sedona timing belt

hi there , first time on this site .thanks for having me , sound like there will be a lot of me on this site from what i have been reading about kia sedona , i have a issue with the timing belt , bought this van second hand , the person said they had the timing belt done , sense i had it, notice noise when you first start the van little rattle in bottom right if you are sitting in the van then it would go away ,went out one morning had to come back right away very loud noise in the same area , of course it being a weekend no garage open , took passenger side wheel off turned main pulley with strong bar by hand in where the timing belt is it jumps and hits the side wall of the covers of the timing belt any idea what it could be , or what it might be has any one had same problem be for , not sure it the mechanic knew what he was doing i have seen on line it is not a easy task thank you

no it gas , i think something came apart inside , timing belt was already replaced, the timing belt housing has marking from inside out whether if one of the pulleys came loose or what ? not sure .It is a 3.5l gas , all i know when it was running it had a loud rattle in bottom above main fly wheel in timing belt housing . Is there a site that i can go too to find a diagram of the timing belt on which way it goes on thank you , may bee than i will have a idea what might be going on

if you haven't already, go to kiatechinfo.com and register for a free ID. All the info related to your vehicle is there, including the timing system routing and parts explosion.

Its possible the tensioner pulley has bad bearing or loose. Maybe waterpump or idler pulley problem. Either way timing belt has to come out to locate the source of your noise. The timing belt has arrows so reassembly should be piece of cake. One note: if you can help it, do not remove the tensioner pulley of the the tensioner bracket. Its an eccentric pulley and has to have the proper tension against the belt to prevent it from jumping teeth (personal experience). Only tool I have found to properly tension the pulley is the one from Kia or one I borrowed from our Mitsubishi tech. Good luck.
