if you haven't already, go to kiatechinfo.com and register for a free ID. All the info related to your vehicle is there, including the timing system routing and parts explosion.

Its possible the tensioner pulley has bad bearing or loose. Maybe waterpump or idler pulley problem. Either way timing belt has to come out to locate the source of your noise. The timing belt has arrows so reassembly should be piece of cake. One note: if you can help it, do not remove the tensioner pulley of the the tensioner bracket. Its an eccentric pulley and has to have the proper tension against the belt to prevent it from jumping teeth (personal experience). Only tool I have found to properly tension the pulley is the one from Kia or one I borrowed from our Mitsubishi tech. Good luck.
