Default Carnival 12/99 any advice? oil in spark plugs

Have been advised oil in spark plugs, rocker cover gaskets leaking oil, power steering rack oil leaks, slight corrosion radiator tubes. Done 130,000kms. Not blowing smoke. car has been randomly cutting out and smelling of burning. Any thoughts or advice? Worth fixing? Can any work be done myself to save $$?

Old post I know.
but common problem.

If there is oil in around your spark plug heads, then its likely either the camshaft carrier gasket sealant(its just a bead of anaerobic goo), or the camshaft cover gasket has failed.
Usually a slow ooze, hence burning smell as the KV6/k5 engine in that carnival runs real hot.
Make certain its not masking some other problem smell though !

Resealing the left/front camshaft cover is easy, lift off, & just some anaerobic loctite sealant either side of the gasket. To get to the carrier sealant & the Right/back cover requires more disassembly. If the leak is not serious, only worry about it at cylinder head gasket/timing belt renewal time.

Mechanically minded can do all this, but the engine needs to be in the correct timing position before pulling the camshaft carrier/timing belts apart.

Listed problems are all worth fixing, at 130,000 - your timing belts due for change...
