the sedona has a few foibles but a bit of preventative tlc should keep you happy
the bushes on the sliding side doors fail so give them a drop of oil now and again and if they do fail there is a how to here somewhere (i think its in the diy section)
the metal hoses to the rear heater rust through just replace them with flexy
i have heard that some can suffer rust in the sills so give it a dose of waxoyl or similar
dont know if the td has the pre heater but if it is the same as the crdi the wires connecting it break so just repair them (on the crdi it lights the heater warning light when the wires break)
as for the merc engine bit as far as i have been able to find the engine isnt made by merc but is derived from a mercedes engine built by kia
there are other thing that can go wrong as with any car but just about any problem you might come across the answer will be here or if not there are plenty of us sedonafiles willing to help with advice and if you fancy some light reading search the threads and you can find quite a few covering just about any problem or service item
the biggest drawback is there is no haynes type manual available but there are quite a few cd rom type available (cant comment on quality as i havent used one)
ttfn glenn
