Default Sedona won't engage into gear

We have an '05 Sedona, Van will start but will not engage into gear. I looked into the manual and there is some sort of override?? Where you are able to put a small screw driver in this hole next to the gear shift ( we have a small allen driver) and we are able to engage with this allen driver in. If we take it out we can't move the shifter at all. The allen driver dosen't seem to be into or touching anything in there?? But it does work. Any ideas on what it could be to permantly fix this problem?
Thanks
Vince

Default Same problem for me

Did you ever get a solution to the problem? I have a 2003 Sedona, and it does this on and off...usually cold weather or rain.

I assume that he found that he had to replace the SHIFTER/Foot Brake interlock unit. OR the whole shifter. Depends on what is avalible to fix it. Might just have need lube. This if it is not malfuctioning is a safety feature so you do not shift into ANY gear from PARK while the vech is running or not with key turned to on and the foot brake is not applied. Has nothig to do with the parking brake or E-brake for those in other countries.

Default Same problem with my 2003 Kia Sedona

Yes it seems to happen when the weather is bad. It just happens now and then. Explain what to do if this happens. I'm not a mechanic so I need simple instructions!
