Default Sedona se+auto 2006 fuel and rattles

Hi every one
I have a sedona se+ Auto 2006 with 2600miles when it starts up it is a rattles a bit and is still noisy when its warm and the fuel economy is poor
I took it to a kia dealer today and they took me out for a test in the car the lad was in his early 20s and from the start it was foot to the boards all the way till we got back he said there is nothing wrong with the car that's the way they are noisy and as for the half tank of diesel to 140 miles is normal (17) mpg I don't think this is right can anyone help me or advise me what to do next as this is the first time I have written in a forum I might have done this all wrong so give me a break please.

Just to confirm your worst fears

I put in 64 litres of diesel last night after travelling 290 miles from the last fill

I make that just over 14 gallons of diesel used and an impressive 20mpg.

Mine is also a 2006 auto. All those miles are short local journeys mind, it'll get over 40mpg on the motorway.

As for the noise, mine sounds like a large engined Diesel...Quiet running is not one of their strong points, but you do get used to it!

Thumbs down

emperor_ming Thank you for the reply it is not what I was hoping to here.At least it puts to rest all those myths about 25/30around town 35+ motor way I do the same mileage local or M/way don't get any difference also I am not a speed merchant so it is not a lead foot making the MPG so bad
I hope this will also help others thinking of buying a Sedona guzzler to think again. Thanks again. dadonamission:amen

35 plus on the motorway is not a myth mine will clear 40 at a steady 70/80 mph but mine is manual but there does seem to be a huge variance in the mpg people get but an auto shouldnt be that much thirstier
ps i dont have aircon either

Hello from a fellow RATTLER.
Well to be honest its not as bad as it used to be. At 21k it seems to have settled down, but new it rattled like an old tractor with one cylinder louder than the rest under light load a bit like small end knock or piston slap. Took it back to dealer (Poole) and got the same responce. Was told thats the way they are they're not what you'd call a refined diesel. They could hear the knock thought it might be an injection problem but could'nt find anything wrong just give it time to settle down. So at 21k the knock has gone and she's a lot quieter unless I give it too much wellie when I get a high pitched rattle but on light throttle people don't realise its a diesel (strange).
As for fuel consumption best 37 worst 19 but i've got a big roof box (see avitar). Recently fitted a Diesel Tunit module boy what a difference, smoother quieter up on power and torque even cold, but not cheap. Look at Tunit Performance - diesel performance tuning with over 2000 applications.

Regards John.

Have you noticed when a Sedona passes you in the street they're very quiet (weird or what) !!
