Unhappy Gearlever change problems

Hi has anyone had problems with changing gear in their Sedona 2.9l 2006? ie the gear lever is really stiff to operate especially when the engine is cold. I have only just purchased mine and don't know if this is a common feature.
Many thanks

a couple of months ago i had to change the cables on mine (one broke) there isnt a lot to the mechanisim so if you remove the air filter box this will give you access to the linkage on the top of the gearbox to lubricate everything under there, then inside unscrew the gearknob and remove the surround to allow access to the gearlever mechanisim to oil it and also run oil down the cable
ps one of the linkages on the gearbox is retained by a nut which you should check
in case it is too tight
