My 2004 Kia Sedona 2.9CRD which i bought 4 months ago will not start.
When we first had it we had similar problems and the garage replaced the battery. We have just come back from driving accross the south of france and having done 2000 miles with no problems have come home to encounter this new problem. The car clicks when you turn the key to start but will not fire up. At first it started after 5 or 6 attempts, then about 12 and now it will not start at all. We have topped up all fluids and oil and would welcome any advice as to what the problem may be. When the ignition key is turned on all the dash electric lights light up but the battery light only comes on in half power. When it can be started it runs perfectly. We tried to jump start it but it would not start at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to add that the car has only done 19000 miles, 2000 of which we put on in france.
Many Thanks
Margaret
Sounds like the battery is flat again, sometimes sedona's have a power leakage thru a faulty door lock actuator, the battery can go flat after sitting around for a few days.
I would fully recharge the battery then try again, if it reoccurs then pull the fuse for the door lock system and see what happens.

I charged the battery all day yesterday and still the car will not start.
It is not even turning over at all. Could it be the starter motor?
the other day (while buying a kitchen?) i met another sedona owner who had a no start problem with similar symptoms to yours which was a faulty starter motor try giving the starter a couple of whacks or rapidly switching on off repeatedly but another suggestion could be a poor connection best of luck

I had a similar problem with a 06 sedona which I bought late 07 with 19000 km on the clock. It had numerous battery problems, several times the car would not start. Eventually the problem came to a head and one of the battery leads corroded. The faulty battery lead was not allowing the battery to charge up properly. Since the repair we have had no reoccurence of the problem. Ps. Our sedona is still running on the original battery, best of luck
I am having exactly te same problem. I have a diesel Sedona 2004 LE. I have changed the battery but no luck, how did you manage to resolve your problem eventually? Somebody said it could be a coil in the ignition system. I don't know.
Hi I have exactly the same problem, for no apparent reason it will just click and do nothing. By turning off the heater/aircon and all accessesories I keep turning the key till eventually it starts. My battery seems to be in good condition and runs fine when started. I read on the German Kia forum that somebody had the same problem and turned out to be not the starter or solenoid switch but a bad and corroded cable going to the starter. Maybe worth checking out the battery earth lead too. I will post my solution as soon as I have it sorted, good luck

Mine seems related to heat. I have an '06.
It starts fine in the morning, but after being parked in the 107f(42c) degree parking lot at work all day it is hard to start occasionally. It cranks, but wont fire. Usually it will finally start on the 3 or 4th crank. Last week I had to have it towed to the dealer after it failed to start at all.
Dealer says it started fine for them in the morning, there is no problem. And sent me on my way.
Anyone know if there is a TSB concerning this?
try checking the earth lead from your battery if this is loose or corroded it can give you this problem also check the leads going to the starter again the same thing can happen there it is a good plan to put some petroleum jelly on these connections as they are prone to corrosion on any car ........also whack the starter with something heavy it might just be jammed .........my maxim has always been "if in doubt give it a clout"
good luck
