Well, incredibly, the dealer called me and informed me the bearings ARE under the drivetrain warranty and they will replace them at no cost. And - since it failed the annual state inspection required here in Pennsylvania because of the bearings, they will do the inspection for free. Holy smokes...I'll believe it when I pull the car from the garage, but so far it all sounds too good to be true. Just saved me well over $600 in repairs.
Edit - just drove home with car, no charge for anything and they even took care of two recalls on the car. Wow...just may have to fire off a nice letter to Kia HQ.
