Question Sedona sliding door

Hi, Ive just had a new n/s sliding door fitted on a 2000 Sedona. It has to go back to the dealer as it appears to be catching as it closes so doesn't shut as smoothly as the other door. My query is the o/s sliding door has a single latch whereas the new n/s has this replicated... and an additional latch higher up into which a metal spigot on the door is supposed to slide (this seems to be the latch which is catching). Is this standard? What does it do? Why has only one door got this?
