Please help.

My air con is not working. Warm air is coming out of the vents .when i select the * switch it lights but i do not hear the compressor engaging.
does anyone out there have an electrical diagram for this system.?

It is a 2004 diesel model. Compressor was changed under warranty nearly 2 years ago.

Thanks

most compressors do not engage if there is not enough gas in the system, go to kwik fit they re-gas for around £45...they put it on a machine and if it does not work then you do not get charged and the machine will tell you what the fault is...ie leak etc

After my most recent experience with Kwik Fit regarding air con recharge, i would say go somewhere else. Kwik Fit do not add a dye into the system to check for leaks and actually don't check for leaks. I regassed mine last July at Kwik Fit and it's all gone already (for some reason) All they could say is that i must have a leak, although i can't find any evidence of a leak.

After the initial regass, the system wasn't as brilliant as it should have been but not sure if it was something they did. Their price of £45 is for a basic recharge, i am going somewhere tomorow that charges £69.99 for an air con service. Basically, they check everything on the air con side of things is working as it should. They add a dye as standard and automatically check for leaks. So for the servicing of the system, the price is well worth it IMO. Plus Kwik Fits machine didn't pick up that i had any kind of leak when they recharged it.

As the garage i am using tomorow said, basically, you get what you pay for and they have had to sort a lot of problems caused by Kwik Fit and their moto for them is...

You Can't Get Thicker Than A KwiK Fit Fitter... (This was their words)

Thanks for the advice guys. I was considering asking a local refrigaration engineer to pop by and regass it. I don't fancy going through the business of throwing money away trying to get a cheap fix that will last no time at all. Don't fancy going to kia although i see an advert of an air con service at their Edinburgh dealership for a reasonable price.
Yep i know about the dye they use to find leaks and i know they can seal them with a special additive. I just hope this doesn't turn into an expensive carry-on. To my knowledge there are no air-con specialists ( only con-artists ) within 2 hours of where i live but i think i'll see a specialist .

Maybe the ones at mine are ...'"pants"... but i also got a printout from their machine when they first charged it up and it said there was no leaks. There has been a slow leak on some of the pipe seals since i've had the car as it never really worked properly and they couldn't find it. I've now had it checked with someone that knows what they are doing and have pinpointed out the seals which are leaking because they used the dye in the refrigerant.

As i said you get what you pay for. All Kwik Fit do is fill the system up and that is it, if you have a leak then tough, they won't fix it they will send you elsewhere. I spent £69.99 for an air con service which checks everthing works, they check the pipes for leaks, the compressor, evaporator, plus other things so for the extra money compared to Kwik Fit, it was well worth it.
