In the few weeks I have owned my '02 Sedona I have been very VERY displeased.
CEL came on while driving home after buying. Codes 421 & 431 which says to replace O2 sensors or Catalytic Converters. Started with O2s because they were cheaper at $120 each. Still getting CEL so decided to do the Catalytic Converters which were $500 EACH... if you can find them! Trying to replace them were a bitch!
Wheel Bearing was growling when I purchased so I was able to talk him down before I bought it, that was $250 but now that I fixed the LOUD bad bearing I can hear the other one is bad also.
A/C stopped working after 2nd day, slidding door does not stay open (try putting an infant in his car seat then the door slamming into you) had to replace the plugs & wires but you can't get the wires at the part store without ordering them, so I had to go to the dealer $$$, the idler pulley is bad so a new belt only last about 2-3 days before it starts grouling again, mpg suck! I had an Astro Van which was heavier and had a much bigger engine (4.3) and I was getting 21 mpg out of that, I only get 12-15 in this thing after I fixed all the problems...
I have found out that nobody stocks parts for our vans:
Catalytic Converters- Order online- 5 days for delivery
Catalytic Converter Upper gaskets- part store was 1/2 the price at the dealer but it took
3 days to arrive
Plug Wires- part store would take 3-5 days but luckly dealer had in stock (the dealer
that was an hour away, not the 2 closest dealers)
Intake Gasket-Ordered 3-5 days
Idler Pulley-Ordered 3-5 days or online for about $8 cheaper same delivery time
Wheel Bearing, Spark Plugs & Belts-Only parts locally stocked (WOW)
A/C still not fixed, need more funding.
Next foreign automobile will be either Honda, Nissan or Toyota. I wish the best of luck to the rest of you as I want for something else to come apart on my van.

Did you buy it private or from a dealer? If it was a dealer I'd take it back.
I bought a 2001, 2.9Tdi about the same time you bought your KIA and mine is great, it had a few minor problems that I knew about when I bought it. Total repair costs so far have been about 100 euros (includes the new timing belt and fan belt I just picked up in UK). I intend to change these two belts because I bought the car without a service history so I rather be safe and change them.
I just made a journey to UK and back (883 Km) and I used 65 litres of diesel, this is 7.3 Litres/100km or 38 mpg which is pretty good when I had the airco going full tilt too.
Incidentally it pays to shop at auto accessory shops for generic parts, as KIA are too damned expensive. For example I was quoted 71 euros for the pollen filter by KIA, I picked one up locally for 22 euros.
Cheers

Reason: missed a word out
I finally order the a/c hose (Online) and itstalled it last night. Went to the garage this morning to have the system vacumed down and recharged it tonight.
Ordered the idler pulley last night (Online) and I expect it to be here on Tuesday but I am going to have to replace the damn belt again, it only has about 500 miles on it.
Tonight I SeaFoamed the engine and it was fun to watch it smoke like a b1tch!
Tomorrow I will be taking it on a trip to St.Augustine, or about 2 hours one way, which will let me know if I have any other leaks in the A/C or if I have any problems. I am really hoping that I have a good trip and it changes my opinion about KIA.
Wish me luck!

All my family agree.... the Sedona is great. Had mine 4 yrs and no major probs. Not too good in snow/ice and cd player, which was replaced under warranty 2 years ago is on the blink again.ie. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Also disappointed with the battery..... looks like I need a new one. (4 years doesn't seem long to me.)
A previous subscriber (Esses) had a similar problem and discovered the problem was battery drain and it was down to a wiring gremlin on the dvd circuit... must have it checked out,
but overall, I love my Kia.... it's as smooth as boiled ham !
Hi
Just to let you know my battery has just expired a tad under 4 yrs. A while back I accidently left the tailgate on the first latch and flattened it. I don't think it liked it cos it seemed a bit down on power after that. My radio/cd player developed a mind of its own at 2yrs. If its the JVC with the removable front you can reset it. Remove the front and you'll see a pinhole. Stick a toothpick or similar in and it resets the unit to default settings. This worked for me no trouble since, mind you'll have to retune the radio and sound settings.
Received the Idler Pulley and not too suprised but it was wrong. Another trip back to the dealer, of course not the one near me but 2 counties away and twice as much but none the less, the right one. MPG has not changed...

We have an 06 Sedona(V-6) it's has elect everyting(doors etc.) No problems BUT poor gas milage around town at 17.5 MPG with the air on and 17.1 with. Trip on the open road at 19 MPG.
Since I started the thread, I'm posting an update:
So far, so good still. Just eclipsed 94k. I am noticing a myriad of minor issues cropping up, which would be common in a car this age/mileage. The rear bearings began leaking, which THEY COVERED UNDER THE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY...I was pretty flabbergasted when they called me and told me its all free.
Someone else had mentioned front bearings - I can hear them whining when I'm turning, so I think I'll have to bring it in to see if thats covered as well - I'm assuming it would be, since they had no problem replacing the rear bearings. Also noticing a strange wobbling when accelerating around the 40mph mark, which I've been told is the front strut/tie rod assembly. I DOUBT that one will be covered...so I'm preparing myself for those repairs.
All in all, its been a pretty good car. NO oil leakage at all, NO smoke, starts every time. When the tires are new, the car is great in the snow. With the 100k mark fast approaching, it may be time to consider another car, but for now we're going to keep chugging along.
Oh, and still no timing belt replacement. I'm on borrowed time with that, I will be setting that up to be done when I bring it in for the bearings.
