Default Gearbox Oil Change......

I have an 04 manual 2.9CRDI. Recently i have noticed a little noise coming from the gearbox. It seems to be getting a little louder and i was going to change the oil in the box, just on the chance it will cure the problem. Anyone know where the filler bung is in this model, also how much and what grade shoule i be putting back in. I was going to use one of those oil treatment type mixtures. Anyone any info on this for me.....

Thanks......

Default Gearbox Oil Change......

Good Question.
I'm trying to find the filler plug also.
Did you manage to find yours (its been a while since you first asked)?

The drain bung is in the bottom, you fill it by removing the speedo drive sensor.

Curious, do they not give you any manuals in countries other then USA/Canada? It seems that all you blokes in the UK and elsewhere never have one. And need answers for things that are right there in it. This is curious to me. My Owners Manual for my 2004 Sorento has very clearly where the drain/dipstick is for the Auto trans. Right after it tells you where the drain/fill plugs and how to tell if its full section for the Manual gear box version. Then in the specifications section it tells you the fluid types and amount both in liters and quarts for all fluids. Thou stranger things have happned I also find it odd that you must take out the speed sensor? to fill?

Smile gearbox capacity

hi i have just changed the oil on my sedona 2.9 manual and it takes 2.3ltrs
and i found the best way to get at the spedo drive is from under the car it is very easy only to undo small bolt 10mm spanner and lift the spedo drive out it is a bit tight because it has an o ring on it to seal i used a plastic bottle with a spout on that is used for gearbox and axle filling and attatched a peice of garden hose to it and filled it from under the hood /bonnet no problem sounds a bit queiter now and i no it is full good luck nobby:
