Default 04 Sedona Auto Transmission

I drive a Sedona EX with just over 50 000 mi on the clock. I bought it used a while ago, but the previous owners really looked after the vehicle and had no major hassles with it.
However, I notice a very coarse / hoarse humming from the transmission when starting up from cold when in park or at idle. As soon as you drive off, it goes away with the engine sounding smooth and quiet and pulling well. You will only hear it when coming to a stop again. Once the car has warmed up (after a few minutes of driving), it goes away completely.
But then once the car cools down again, e.g. overnight, it is back to where it was before. Has anyone else experienced this ? Any idea what it might be ?

Thanks

are you sure it is the transmission? I just purchased a used 2004 kia sedona with 41000 miles and when starting cold , it was making a humming or rumbling noise as you described. I took it in and they adusted the belts which took care of most of the problem. It still makes a little noise when first starting but goes away fairly quickly. I have some additional service to get done when parts ordered come in so I am going to have them adjust the belts again to hopefully eliminate the noise.

Thanks Arelie. I've taken it in today and they confirmed your diagnosis. Will let you know whether that fixes the problem.

FYI, tightening the belts completely solved the problem !

Just another bit of info, apparently Kia has published a bulletin on guys reporting clunking noises from the front suspension. For this, they replace two plates on the front struts.
I reported this clunking / thumping having thought it to be the struts, on which they informed me about the plates. This is being fixed today under warranty.
Will let you know what comes from it.

Have had the plates replaced. The sounds are better for sure, although it is still not completely gone. However, Kia said that this will be the case from the start. The shocks / struts have however checked out ok.
