i would suggest changing the filter again also flush the pipes to get rid of as much contaminant as possible since it was running ok with the old filter a possibility is to refit it to clean out the worst of the rubbish then fit a new one

by "not turn over" i take it to mean the engine does not turn at all. the only time i have had dealings with an engine that didnt turn over was caused by either starter failure or hydraulic lock, if it spins over but will not fire this is probably a fuel problem how the engine stopped can help pinpoint the problem if it lost power and slowed to a stop that points to a fuel problem whereas a sudden stop tends towards electrical or mechanical failure

What he squirted was probably easy start. If it runs momentarily with that then I would say you're not getting any fuel into the engine. If you've dragged some dirt up it could have blocked anything, the filter, fuel pipes even the injectors. The worst case is that your pump could've died completely. It is difficult to diagnose without having the car in front of me.
I would offer to have a look for you as I know a little about the humble diesel engine (HGV technician) but I live in Kent. Sorry.

A quick afterthought, crack off the pipe to the pump, get someone to crank the engine over and see if your getting fuel. If you do try the feed pipes to the injectors. If you're getting fuel to the injectors then they are probably blocked, if not then the pump is either blocked or dead. There are various companies around that can clean and refurb them, Kia would try to sell you a new set.

chesney many thanks for your reply. the car if off to kia now for diagnostics. £75.00 i do agree with what you are saying, but we have done all you have said. and he was using easy start. and it started . and theres fuel getting to the injectors. and .it still dont run. well ill let you know what the diag says.i dont think this will help either.but will need to get the system cleaned out would help. he told me that the glow plugs are just to start the engine only.( thought about changing them) he said compression ignites the fuel and the heat from the pistons).I didnt know that. thanks again. if its going to cost better to get rid of it.

Well good luck! The only thing I can think of is blocked injectors? You must be getting compression to ignite the easy start, so if fuel was getting into the engine then surely it would start? The only other thing that would prevent it would be if the pump timing is out of sync with the engine. It would be pumping fuel at the wrong time and wouldn't run. I don't know how the pump is run but it could be something as simple as the woodruff key come adrift.
Anyway, keep us informed, I'm intrigued now.
