Cool Aftermarket Cd Player

WHEN YOU INSTALL AN AFTER MARKET CD PLAYER IN A 2002 SEDONA, YOU HAVE TO USE A WIRING ADPTOR, WHEN THIS IS ALL CONNECTED THE CD PLAYER/RADIO DOES NOT RETAIN MEMORY, DO YOU NEED TO ADOPT THE WIRING IN SOME WAY,

I KNOW IN VAUXHALL YOU HAVE TO REVERSE THE YELLOW AND THE RED WIRE TO ALLOW THE MEMORY TO STAY ON, BUT WHAT ABOUT KIA'S?

IF ANYONE CAN HELP THIS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

PS GUYS, CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MANY MILES THEY ARE GETTING TO A FULL TANK OF FUEL IN THE DIESEL 2.9 CRDI MODELS,

You need to locate the permanant 12 volt live feed. The head unit needs to have permanant live and a switched live. You can test each wire with a simple 12 volt bulb. as for miles to a full tank, not sure its that long from i could afford to fill it right up. I am getting roughly 30 mpg outa my 2.9 crdi.

best regards....

I am fairly sure the permanent live wire is yellow with a black tracer/stripe

i know about having the live feed connected, was wondering if i swap the wires around in the wiring harness would that help, again i refer to vauxhall, you have to cut the red and the yellow wire and re-connect them the oppisite way round.

is this the same with kia, if i cut the yellow/black stripe wire and swap it with another would that work, if so what wires do i need to swap.

ps it took £80 to fill my tank and im on 400 miles with a quater left, ill keep you posted. was just wondering if anyone had more or less the same as me so far

That sounds about the same as mine. I did manage to get about 500 miles on one tank once but that was travelling from the south east to Durham, mainly motorways.
Around town a full tank normally lasts about 350 miles.

As for the original question, as far as I can remember it ws just a case of plugging in the new head unit. I know that Vauxhalls are a bit strange (owned 2 of them) but almost every other car is wired the correect way around.

I get about 400 miles from full tank to 1/4 tank. I get better mileage from Shell compared to the supermarket fuels I reckon about 10% better mileage from Shell standard Diesel not the v power.

The original connectors were standard DIN connectors - you shouldn't need to swap any wires unless someone has modified it or your CD player is non-standard. I've had a 2002 Sedona from new and I've replaced the head unit twice - both worked OK with the original connectors. Maybe you've got a bad connection or a broken conductor.
