Default 03 Sedona Power Steering

I have a 2003 Sedona, which I purchased in June '07. 3 weeks ago, when leaving work I had no power steering (had a big puddle under the van). I brought it to my mechanic and he found that the power steering hose was loose. He rehooked everything up and tighted the clamp and the van has ran great since. Until this morning, when I was leaving work I have encounted the same problem. No power steering and it looked like there was a big puddle under than van.
I live in North Dakota, so we have had a lot of freezing weather with wind chills around 20 below or colder; however, I always let the van sit for 20 minutes at least. I will not take off until the temp. mark is at least to the C. Has anyone else had problems like this? Or know of anything we can do to try and prevent this from happening?
Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my 02 sedona. I've now blown mine 4 times. Living in Manitoba, it's also been very cold here.

I hope you find your answer.

I just saw your post about it. I hope you can get yours fixed so it don't keep happening. I just got back from my mechanic, he decided to put an extra clamp at each end of the hose. I guess we'll find out if this keeps it on.

I thought I would share this with you. In frustration last night, I emailed my cousin who happens to work for Kia.

"There is an issue with the early Sedona's power steering clamps, when the weather gets colder than minus 30. Your mechanic needs to be using a high pressure clamp better than the O.E.M clamp. On cold mornings the fluid turns to tar and blows the hoses off, so use SP3 semi synthetic fluid. Other than that, driver needs to take it easy on steering for the first few turns until fluid works it’s way thru the lines in the mornings – letting van idle does not really warm up the p/s system (never really does warm up in the winter). "

Hope this helps you.
