Angry 03 Sedona - Electrical poltergeist

My van has a poltergeist.

About a month ago my battery died. Put a new one in and ever since have had numerous random electrical problems.

Doors lock and unlock themselves. Sometimes the automatic door locks won't unlock. The front defrost will stay on (killing the battery forcing me to jump it). The clock and dome lights were not working but would work if we turned the defrost on.

I've had it in to the dealer 4 times (it's under warranty). The first time they diagnosed and ordered and ETWIS module. They put that in the second visit. Problems continued. Took it in the third time and they replaced a fuse. The dome lights and clock now work but the defrost was coming on by itself again (without a key in the ignition), killing the battery again. Doors are still locking and unlocking themselves and randomly not working at all.

Took it into the the dealer the fourth time and they did nothing. They said they couldn't get it to reproduce any of that behavior and told me to take it home until it does it again. The problem is, every time I take the piece of junk home it does it again.

I'm at a loss. I work on my own vehicles quite often, but don't have any experience with electrical. Apparently there isn't a Haynes manual for this van so I can't go that route.

Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be and any potential remedies?

Thanks.

this may be of a little help (very little) but since you have so many gremlins running around your car i would suggest checking and cleaning earthing points and any multiblock connectors you can find also the fuse box connections failing that if you are certain you have a poltergeist try an exorcisim

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you or anyone else know where I might find a diagram of where everything is that might want to clean? As has been mentioned in the forums there is no Haynes manual for this van so I can't look there.

If all else fails maybe I'll be able to get someone to cast the demons out of the innocent little van.

Alright mate,
If you look further down the main page you will see people looking for manuals. Follow the link and you will hopefully find guidance there.
I agree that you should check out your earthing system thouroughly as 12v DC systems are prone to poltergeist attack.
Highlander.

Thanks Highlander, I'll go take a look for the threads about the manuals.
