Angry Carinval wont start

I have a KIA Carnival from 2001 - Diesel, automatic.
Today the car wouldnt start. When I turned the key to ACC and waited for the glowing indicator to go off then turned to Start then there was just a ticking noice. After this the Brake and Enigine Check indicators were blinking. I asked the local KIA dealer and they said that I needed to recharge the battery, I did that and now when I turn to ACC the CHECK indicator blinks persistently and I cant turn the engine on. The manual does not say what this means. What is wrong?

It certainly sounds like a battery problem. Try to get hold of a voltmeter and have someone check the battery voltage when you attempt to start. From a healthy 12.5v or more, you should see no less than 8-10 volts when cranking. Alternatively, see if anyone will lend you a booster starter pack, and see if this makes a difference. If your battery has failed big time, no amount of trickle charging will recover it, as it will not accept the charge you are attempting to put in. Good luck.
