Default ATF for 03 Sedona

Does anyone know where to buy the Kia ATF (diamond) other than at the dealership?

I am approaching 50k miles on my '04 and I plan on getting the transmission fluid changed too. I searched a while back for an alternate source for the "diamond" ATF, but seems that it is only a dealer item. Found that some Chrysler/Dodge dealers have this fluid too for their Mitsubishi based cars. If your worried about the cost, you shouldn't, paying $6 to $8 a liter is nothing compared to Mercedes Benz ATF (my wife's car uses this).

I changed the tranny fluid on my 04 Sedona at 29000 with Valvoline 75000 trans fluid. I now have 57000 miles and the trans works fine. I have a letter from Valvoline that claims it is the same stuff kia wants you to buy. Btw I went to a kia dealer to buy a quart before I did that and they came out with a bottle that only said kia transmission fluid on it. Nothing about what was in the bottle. I think it's a big fraud. Do what you feel comfortable with.

something you could try is log onto the websites of the various oil companys as many of them have product finders where you can enter your vehicle details and they will tell you which product to use

Hello all, same issue here with an 04 sedona. I found that Amsoil, valvoline I think, Royal Purple all have a synthetic that works, however its the same 6-8 bucks you'll pay at the dealer. Now I just saw at Autozone that they have a "coastal" brand, made in the US for Autozone, semi-synthetic or synthetic trans fluid that lists it as meeting the SP-III for Mistubishi (KIA SP-III) and its only $3.99. I haven't tried it yet, but have used the coastal Dex III in my GM stuff. Also, will be trying to add a remote trans filter to help out. Using a permacool kit but probably going to a PH3614 fram equivalent instead of the PH8A or PH16 filters that fit it. PH3614 smaller in diameter.

Thanks

In case anyone wants to do; added a remote trans filter with the ph3614, some 3/8 trans rubber hose, made a bent aluminum bracket, etc. mounted to the passenger side of the hood latch vertical member. I'll try to get a pdf of the lines and some pics uploaded in the near future. The line on the left while facing the trans cooler is the line into the cooler, I removed it from cooler, spliced with barbed brass - w/clamps, etc. - then "IN" to the filter housing, out of housing back to the cooler. The trans drained out app. 6 quarts, then refilled. The ph 3614 will slide through between the grille and radiator. Good luck.
