Default Replacing the Audio Player (Sedona 2004)

Hi All,

How hard is it to replace the audio system in Kia Sedona. The original one just died and isn't doing anything.

Do we have any step by step instructions available on this topic?

Thanks,
Sumeet

It really is very easy to replace the audio unit. The trim pieces pull off, there is one screw under the ash try that must be removed prior to pulling off the trim piece (be careful not to damage the trim by prying are pulling to hard) Mine just pulled off with not much force. Once the trim piece is off everything else is held on by screws and the electrical connectors just snap off. Most of the connectors are color coded. If in doubt mark the connectors with tape prior to disconnecting. The audio unit is very visible and accessible after the trim is removed. 4 – Screws hold it in place. Once the screws are removed the unit will slide out. There are many double DIN replacement units that will fill the opening without having to use an adapter kit. I replaced my unit with a DVD/GPS unit and it was a perfect fit. If you are replacing your unit with an after market unit, make sure that you get a Kia radio adapter connector. It’ll save you a lot of time and eliminate splicing a lot of wires. Go to the Kia website link to see a diagram. http://www.kiatechinfo.com/viewer/de...asp?group=shop

Are you sure it's dead? They sometime lock themselves out with a CD error code within the unit. If the stock stereo senses some kind of fault with a cd it'll go into a protection mode to prevent damage. It'll act just like a dead unit and not function at all. You have to remove the radio fuse in the fuse block in the engine compartment for 15-30 seconds to clear the stereo. My local dealer pointed this out to me after the second "lock-out" of my stereo. Give it a shot.
