hi im new to the forum but just to say i had an auto 2.9td and ran it for over 12 months on bio diesel purchased from a supplier just ouside york on the a64 and at 79p per liter its worth the run out from wakefield the only drawback i had was my eldest and i went down to corby around bonfire night and i had the sh****g dog syndrome no matter what i did it shook like hell that was down to the cold evening.sunday came home no problems and 2 if you like the smell of a chipshop then by all means use bio-diesel havent as yet tried it out on my 53 plate 2.9cdri btw i found fuel consumption was dramatically improved i did top up on dino diesel every 2 tanks

the jury is still out on home brew bio for common rail diesels but if it is being sold on a commercial basis then it SHOULD be ok something that bio is a bit sensitive to is heat if it was not running properly this would point to the fuel being a bit cold the proper fix is to fit a filter heater but an alternative is to let the car stand for a while to allow the heat to build up under the bonnet and warm the filter or just pour hot water over it

hello pet
yep it me again am still running my weak veggie mix as it saves about 20p a litre and i believe it gives more mpg and a slightly smoother running engine but to use my favorite phrase "i could and probably am wrong"

Ladies and Gents.
How many of you are running CRDi sedonas on veg oil ?
How are you getting on with it and what are the blends of oil/ diesel/ thinner ( petrol, spirit )
issues??
although as above Im now on 100% dino previsouly I ran approx 50% veggie oil mines an 04 2.9 CRDI, and it most definitely DOES run SMOOTHER and QUIETER not to sure about more MPG though.....read the thread back over for my mix`s as I also used White spirit and acetone

there is a bookers not far from me so i shall have to have a little nosy to see if they are doing the oil for 55p as at the moment its costing me 98p a litre at the local supermarkets have been viewing a transit forum thread about veggie and the use of acetone and some people believe acetone in straight dino derv gives more mpg so maybe i shall have to search out an acetone supply
at the moment my mix is 25 litres dino 6 litres veg and a splash of diesel power plus
i dont bother with the white spirit any more
highlander "phenominal" have you been at the irn bru?

Hi a new member here.
First of all i would like to say hello to 93fxdl and Pete B 2000 i feel i know you guys already reading all the posts that they have posted and how brave you were to put vegi in the sedona.
My question is has anyone tried this home made biodiesel in a 2.9 crdi common rail
you can buy the kits for a few hunderd pounds [not bad if you can get the used vegi of free] only 21p per l for the methinol etc.

welcome to the asylum mine is a crdi and am still running my 20% mix but i am not bothering with white spirit any more as i believe that is only needed if you are running 100% as for the home brew kits my main concern is some of the nasty (very) chemicals used but my situation is a bit extreme as i have an autistic 10 yr old who is very adept at getting into situations we wish he wouldnt so caustic soda and methanol around the homestead are not an option for me but if you have a source of free oil as opposed to £1.20 a litre and climbing and the space to set up a plant i would say go for it even if you dont use it yourself just think how many people would be beating a path to your door to buy it from you if you were closer myself included
the main concern with homebrew is getting the product right ensuring it is not corrosive etc

with the price of diesel soaring i believe this thread is going to become very popular
