Good luck Wesley, your are also now officially a king of the wild frontier, what you will notice straight away with that percentage is the nice aroma from the exhaust and your engine will be noticeably quieter and smoother

Default S.v.o.

Put 15l of veg into 3/4 of a tank of diesel. Runs just fine haven't noticed any difference in performance . Different exhaust smell but thats about it.
Only issue is the filling up, footering about with 1L containers takes a wee while to fill. Bought a good funnel in tesco for the job. Where is the cheapest place to buy say 2L or 3L containers of veg oil 95p/L at Lidl but only 1L bottles.
Who is Paying what and where please?????????

somewhere like here is sometimes helpful
Fixtureferrets.co.uk searching for the best grocery promotions
I mainly bought from Tesco Online look around for codes for free delivery etc, if you live near a tesco extra they sell "KTC" Oil in 10ltr containers thats what I used to buy in the good old days when it was .50p per litre (about 8 months ago)

Alright, another newbie with a 06 Plate CRDI auto.....

So, let me get this right. I can go to Lidl and buy some Rapeseed oil (lots) and add it straight to the fuel tank at a ratio of say 30% Veggie to 70% diesel.

Jump and and down in the car to mix things up and it'll run safely as is?

I've heard the fuel pumps arent as robust as say a Bosch one, long term could i expect to see any problems?

Also, im guessing that it'll flush all the crud out of the tank into the filter..Do you recommend changing the filter after a couple o' tankfulls & where does the filter live under the bonnet?

yeah if you read back over ive had around 50% in mine, Ive not had to change my fuel filter
and yes just pour it in, as you lift bonnet and look into engine bay if yours is the same as my 2004 model then it will be on your left towards the front cylindrical with around 3 pipes coming out of the top

50%...im not sure im that brave!

I'll give 30% a go for starters i think

Is it still the case that you dont need to declare to Customs if you use less than 2500 litres a year.

May be worth looking in Costco / Macro to see if they sell them big drums of veggie oil!

Hi Pete B & Highlander, sorry about the delay. Decided to go away for week-end to Cleethorpes....... After much consideration, last week decided to try a 2:1 mix untill next (50,000 miles) service. (Currently on 46,480). So last Mon. 2nd. June, I put in 6 litres new veg. oil and 12 litres of diesel. On Friday, going to Cleethorpes, 12 litres veg. oil and 24 litres diesel. Sunday, 6 litres veg. oil and 12 litres of diesel. Today, another 6 veg. & 12 diesel............. What can I say ?...... You were right, it works fine and yes it is definitely quieter, particularly noticeable on trip to Cleethorpes, (108 miles including 60 on motorway). If all goes well, I will go to 50:50 after next service. In the meantime I will give a weekly report. Veg. oil prices varied from £3.49 for 3 ltr bottle at Tesco, to 95p. for 1 ltr bottle at ALDI. Does anyone know about suitability of grapeseed oil ? (80p/ltr @ Tesco). Regards, Wesley
