Default Rear Heater - NO HEAT

Hi anyone got any ideas why my rear heater isn't producing any heat. The pipes underneath both feel cold so there is no heat getting to the heater.

Any one got any ideas at what i should be looking at?

Cheers, TIA

more than likely the previous owner has had the pipes blocked off due to corrosion
if its an non air con model then more than likely as they have a habit of baking the rear of the car in the summer - not a pleasant experience

Funny you should say that. Turned out the previous owner did clamp the rear pipes off due to corrosion. Had the pipes changed for normal heater hose from front to back and all works brilliantly now.

Hi, my 2002 Sedona has a same problem. The rear pipes are corroded and coolant leaks badly. Could you please tell me how you changed the pipes and how much did it cost? Thank you very much.

They are the pipes underneath that run from front to back next to the air con pipes (if fitted) on the drivers side (right hand side). They are the pipes that have no lagging on them (unlike the air con pipes). They alternate from metal pipes to rubber pipes. Go to a motor factors and ask for some heater hose the same size as the rubber hoses underneath. Create some joining pieces out of some of the good pieces of metal pipe to join up the new hoses.

Take a look underneath, it's easier than you think, alot easier than trying to explain anyway.

I took my Sedona to a Kia dealer today. They quoted $73 for the replacement heater line (the pipes) and $200 for the labor. Not that bad. They don't have the pipes in stock though, it would take 2 days to get them.

You're very lucky as my local KIA dealer wanted over £200 just for the pipes. The only problem with using the OEM parts is that in a few years down the line, the pipes may corrode through again and you will have to pay for this to be done again. At least with my heater hose, i will never have the problem of corroding pipes again.

Good luck

Just had the job done at the dealer today, US$300 total. It seems the new pipes are coated with something like rubber on the mounting point, maybe Kia found this common problem and took some action to improve it. The coated stuff is only on the mounting point, rest of the pipe is still black painted. Hopefully this will help prevent corrosion.
