I have a 2003 sedona and The front end is making a thumping noise. Sounds like a bearing but both sides have just been replaced. Both cv axles have also been replaced. The brake calipers are not tight and I rotated the front tires to the rear to rule that out. Has anyone ever had to replace the passenger side shaft that come out of the trans axle. It does have a bearing .Just wondering if it has a history of going bad. It does thump louder if you turn either direction but wont make any noise with the tires on or off on the lift.
Hi Bubba,
There is a shaft extension carrier between the transmission and the RH axle. See attached.
I used to have an old Sephia; I replaced the shaft carrier, the bearing was bad.
I removed the whole part, took it to a local car parts store/ machine shop, they removed the bad bearing, measured it, and repress a new one in.
It was $40 for all, 12 to 14 years ago.
Beware, there is a sequence for re-fastening the carrier back to the car and it must be torqued to specs, and i don't have those.
Thank you for the info mvkma It's hard to find info on this bracket and bearing. I'll see if i can do this as a new shaft with the bearing and bracket is 200.00 plus.
