Hi Big Joe 38 and welcome to the club, for what you are looking for I would defiantly go for the Sorento, I have had both vehicles, and the Sorento wins every time, the Sedona is a big lump of a car, ok if you have 6 kids, 2 dogs and a large box of raccoons great, but in the snow you will look like the Toronto Maple Leafs on crack cocaine, you will be all over the place.
The best Sorento models are the ones manufactured between 2007 and 2010, with the 2.5 litre diesel engine, theses are the last of the face lift models that have the ladder chassis, the same way the big trucks are built, they will pull 3,500KG. Big bonus is you will get more mpg than the Sedona.
Plus having 4 wheel drive (which the Sedona does not have) you will be safe and sound when the snow and ice come, you could also charge your neighbours that get stuck in the snow, instead of them calling out a tow truck, ( this is becoming a win win situation)
The Sorento that I have is the Titan model, Kia only made 1500 of this model so I don't know if you can get them in the States, you could always get one shipped over, if you can get Autotrader UK on your PC, you will find that there are around 500 plus Sorentos for sale but only between 18-24 Titans for sale, they will only appreciate in value because of their rarity value, so it could well be worth you looking into that, how many Kia Titans do you see on your roads?
With mine I have had the engine remapped (not chipped) from 168bhp up to 200bhp and the torque increased from 380Nm up to 470Nm the difference is totally amazing, plus I get an extra 5 mpg from the increase in torque. Now getting around 28-32 mpg in town, and 44-46 mpg on a run. A really superb low mileage Titan will set you back about $17,500 one that has FSH (full service history), have a look at the photos that I have put on my forum and you will see just what I mean, I bought this last December for just over $15,000, (£9950) only 43.000 miles on the clock, went to my local garage last week and asked what he would pay me cash for my Titan, he said it was worth $15,855 (£10,500) all day long, only because it is a Titan in mint condition. I have used the exchange rate is £1 - $1.51, Again look on Autotrader UK and go into owners reviews, they all love it, best vehicle Kia ever made. any further help send me a private message,
Kind regards, Bill, in a very wet England.
