Question Knocking noise from AC compressor ???

Had to take a trip the other day, the air was on the whole time. While at stop lights with engine at idle I could hear a faint knocking sound coming and going. I didn't seem to heaqr it while driving. Another Sedona/Entourage site is pointing the finger at the AC compressor....anyone here know anything about this?

Kia has a TSB for this:

KT2007052301 - A/C Compressor Noise Concern (Climate Control - 010)

Some 2006 – 2007 Sedona (VQ) may exhibit a knocking noise during A/C operation. A redesigned A/C compressor disc + hub assembly with better dampening characteristics can be retrofitted to these vehicles A/C compressors, which will eliminate the concern. This new design disc + hub assembly can be applied to any 2006 Sedona (VQ), and 2007 Sedona (VQ) up to production date February 5, 2007.

Take it to your dealer and have them apply the fix.

I had my dealer fix the problem in my 2006 Sedona and it's much quieter now.

Good Luck!!!

Default Is the fix free?

I have the same problem.
I only notice it when stopped at a quiet drive through or similar place with the A/C on. An intermittent da-da-da-da-da-da sound.

It doesn't annoy me enough to pay to have it fixed though.

Default Manufactured Dec '07 and knocking A/C Compressor

Hi there

Do you reckon this TSB fix will cover my car too. It was made in Dec'07 but it also has this A/C compressor knock.

The A/C works fine otherwise. Wonder if it would yield a future problem if I don't fix it now. Car has got only 2700Km on it now.
