Cool 3.8 Capacity Info

From the KIA online shop manual:

LUBRICANTS CAPACITIES

Description
3.8
Engine oil
Oil pan
5.5 (5.81, 4.84)
Oil filter
0.4 (0.42, 0.35)
Drain and refill
5.2 (5.49, 4.58)
Total
6.4 (6.76, 5.63)

I just did an oil & filter change on my 2006, It took nearly all of 6 quarts to bring the level up, despite the manual service station info saying a different #.

George in Wisconsin.

My last change was 5 and a quarter quarts.

I buy the 5-quart jugs @ Wal-Mart and and I bought one quart to bring it up to full.

Currently, the oil has 6500 miles (I'll change it in another 1000) and it has burned nothing.

The manual and other docs are good guides, but never use them exclusively for any vehicle. Running production changes in oil pan dimensions, filter sizes, and coolers all affect actual quantity for your vehicle.

It's best to put most of the suggested oil quantity in, check the level, top off as needed, run the engine a minute, then check again.
