Default Alarm system triggers spontaneously

Hi all,

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this. My Sedona '06 alarm system will go off spontaneously when nothing touches the car. I have generally noticed at night although today it happened at work 3 times in a row (I think the 3 is a function of the alarm system, it goes off 3 times unless the key is inserted in the car). I don't think it's temperature dependent or battery dependent, the battery has a full charge and this began in the spring after a long cold winter. It has happened during cold nights and on very warm days (today).

Has anyone else experienced this or do you know of a way to solve the problem without another dreaded kia service experience? I have had fairly good luck otherwise, but when I do have to get service it takes forever.

Thanks for any input!

I recently had a problem with my 2006 Sedona's airbag light turning on occasionally. The first time that it turned on, the alarm went off as well.

It turns out that the alternator was bad. The dealer told me that the computer had logged a lot of errors related to the charging system. They changed the alternator and (fingers crossed) it appears to have fixed the problem.

I suggest that you visit your dealer and have them check the computer's log for any errors.
