Default noise when cold starting

when i cold start my 2006 sedona LX it revs way up and there is a obnoxious ratteling sound coming from under the hood, which lasts for about 3 seconds, then the idle dies down to normal and everything is quiet and smooth.

the sound doesnt sound normal and im looking for ideas on where to start looking..

thanks

Default Timing Chain Tensioners need to be updated on some.

KT2006121401 12/14/2006 Sedona [VQ](2006~2007) Engine Mechanical System General 3.8L Lambda Engine Noises

The reference above refers to a "Pitstop" publication by KIA which can be accessed by KIA owners: Go to KIA.com, then find "KIA Owners", menu opens go to "Service Information", establish an account then go and search under "Pitstop". Our models are listed as "VQ" for 2006+ vehicles. My vehicle was had this noise, the dealer did this (major) fix and it is just fine now. Plan on 1-2 days, my dealer gave us a loaner during the work. George in Wisconsin.

A formal TSB is in progress to address several noises on 3.8L Lambda engines, which when posted will override any information provided in this Pitstop. Once the formal TSB is posted, this Pitstop will be removed to avoid any conflicting information.
This bulletin addresses several (3) noises on 3.8 L Lambda engines used in 2006 Sedona (VQ), 2007 Amanti (GH), and 2007 Sorento (BL).
Some 2006 Sedona (VQ), 2007 Amanti (GH) and 2007 Sorento (BL) with a production date earlier than August 25, 2006, may exhibit engine noise for several seconds on initial start-up that typically sounds like loose timing chains or excessive bearing clearance. Additionally these engines may exhibit noise during cold or warm operation, which can sound like excessive valve lash on one or more cylinders. In either case, the timing chain tensioners may cause the noise.
