Just wondering how many total days your 2006 KIA Sedona has been in the shop for service? Ours has been in for service or broken on 50 plus days since it was purchased 10 months ago. Here is a brief list of the repairs needed:
Needs a fuel pump.
Replace fuel pump
Check engine light on
Check engine light on
Replace fuel pump again
Brakes went to floor
Recall repair
Recall repair
Dead battery
Dead battery
Dead battery
Replace battery
Side doors will not stop closing on child safety stop
Replaced cam chain and tensioners
Van detailed due to grease left over drivers side front seat area by dealer
The van now has a valve tap that needs to be looked at by the dealer again and I think the cam chain is making the same noise. I get the impression from KIA that this is business as usual.
Is anyone else on this forum having these kinds of issues with their "new" van? I could have gotten better reliability from a $3,000 used car than I am getting for my $30,000 plus purchase.
Check out your state's lemon law. Usually 30 days out of service in the first 12 months is one criteria that will allow you to force the MFG to buy the car back from you.
Doing that, it qualifies as a Lemon. I was offered $1000 to let it go away. Then you can't sue under the Lemon Law again. So it's off to court to see what they say. Never again will I buy a KIA anything. I am tired of record keeping, rental cars and undependable transportation.
Recall adjustments - 1 day,
Check on brake squeal - 1/2 day during regular service
Brakes and minor oil leak fixed - 1 day
Timing chain tensioners (at my discretion) 3 days as mechanic out with flu on one of the days .... we had a Ford Windstar loaner, were very glad to get the Sedona back as it is a lot nicer vehicle.
Figure the time out of service is mainly owing to having bought an early run vehicle ... Have not been stranded or had need of repair that was urgent. My '82 VW leaked oil for 150K - until I rebuilt the engine myself, VW would not fix it. Had to go in several times to get VW to attempt to fix my noisy brakes ... then fix them myself.
KIA on the other hand has fixed everything without fuss. Great service, good work, quality parts and attention to detail. If every dealer was as good as mine has been so far (knock on faux wood dash) you would see more KIAs on the road.
George in Wisconsin, 2 Spectras, Sedona, VW Camper bought new in '82.
Why do you need to verify my claims? Everything is documented by our 2 local KIA dealers, they are the only ones to service the vehicle.
Can you help me resolve my dispute with KIA? If so I can give you our attorneys information or the one you are using to get this resolved. Both parties have copies of the dealer suplied repair paperwork including invoice numbers, days out of service, and rental car days pertaining to the vehicle.
Sadly enough this has come down to the attorneys handling the problem. At this point it appears to be going to court.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, I am glad to hear you had a good experience with KIA. I truely hope your experiences keep being good ones. Our local dealer I am afraid is not customer oriented. They did lose the original service manager we were dealing with, the new one seems to be better at smoothing things over. The area rep wouldn't return my calls like he said he would when the problems first arose. You would think that a return call would be in order when your vehicle with aprox 2300 miles was out of service for 26 days for its second fuel pump. JMHO
