Default New Owner - Warranty Questions

Hey all,

New owner of a 06 Sedona here. Love the car so far. Question about warranty work though. I usually do all the maintenance myself on cars. Is this a problem? Do I really need to start paying someone else to change my oil, spark plugs, etc.? Local dealership has been great so far, but hate to spend money and time taking the car in.

I have never had to take a car in for warranty work before. Never had a warranty this long either, so figured I would ask.

I wouldnt touch it until the warranty runs out. Let the dealer service the van. They are looking for someone to blame besides themselves as to why the van keeps being in for service (50 plus days in 10 months). Fortunatly they have performed all of the service on the van. JMHO

If you're going to save yourself money by doing maintenance yourself, be sure and document what you've done and save ALL the receipts. I'd also recommend using only OEM KIA parts.

Here in Australia, if ANYONE but a registered Mechanic touches your new car, that's it - bang - you've voided your new-car warranty & all the Dealers (of any make) really prefer you to use their Service Departments, of course. That said, so far our local Dealer's S.D. has been good. Both the 15 000 & 30 000km services were just under $300-00 AUD.

See above. No, your Mechanic can do the regular servicing but he CAN'T do any warranty work & your Dealer will be really peeved that you're not using him in the first place. Good luck.
