Default Engine repeatedly misfires

My 2006 Sedona has 10500 km. During this period, the MIL light has indicated engine malfunction 4 different times. Each time the engine has started misfiring. The first time, the dealer said he had to replace the computer. The second time he claimed it was poor gas. The third time, he claimed mice had built a nest in the engine, but a thorough check -- which I had to pay for -- showed no wires or harness had been damaged. The engine light is again on, and the car will be towed to the dealer today. I'm waiting now to see what reason will be given. I really don't want to get rid of the Sedona, because I love the ride and comfort. It's just getting too much of a nuisance, and I can't depend on it. Has anyone else had the same problem? If so, what was the solution? Thanks for any suggestions...........Kim

Sorry to hear about the problem your having with your Sedona.

If I were you, I'd try a different dealer. You shouldn't have to pay for diagnosing the problem it's having while under warranty - contact Kia about this.

There's a TSB (KT2006092601) posted on the US Kia Tech Info site:

EN9000 - MIL ON (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)

Subject Sedona (VQ) PCM Reprogram (DTC P0441/P0128) (Engine - 025)
Description This Service Bulletin provides information related to a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) upgrade. Some 2006 Sedona (VQ) vehicles with a 3.8L (6 cylinder) engine built on or before June 9, 2006 may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) "ON" condition with DTC P0441 (Evap. Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow) and/or DTC P0128 (Engine Coolant Thermostat Open/Stuck) stored in the PCM memory even though no component or circuit related malfunction exists.

To correct this condition, the PCM should be reprogrammed using the Hi-Scan Pro/GDS download as described in this bulletin before attempting to repair this concern.

There are numerous other things the dealer can do to diagnose this problem. Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply and suggestions. The dealer called Kia Canada and was told to replace the Air Temperature Control sensor. Apparently there is no code for this particular problem. At any rate, the engine runs perfectly now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though. Take care.
