Default 2006 Sedona Oil Change

No one in my area can do an oil change on the 2006 Sedona except the dealer, which isn't very close to home. I can't even find the oil filter anywhere online. There is one listed as a K&N part which they claim will also fit the 2005. Other retailers say the part will not fit the 2006. Any ideas?

Default DIY oil change and filter availability

Hello,

Capital Auto Parts has listings on EBAY for about $7 for Hyundai Filter and needed gaskets. Found this DIY on an Entourage board.

DIY Oil Change

Have not replaced myself because got coupons from dealer for free oil and filter changes. Good luck. George in Wisconsin. 2006 Sedona and Spectra(s).

Question Average cost for 2006-7 filter kit.......

Just hunting around, can't find any prices on the net..... what does the Kia oil filter kit for the 3.8 engine cost ?

What are the recommended change intervals ?

And, are there any special precautions to take when replacing the filter element ? Making sure the lower O-riing is seated correctly ?

If something went wrong, would the oil pressure light come on ?

While under warranty, I would NEVER put a filter in there that you bought off ebay.

Go to your dealer and buy several filters at once if the trip is a hassle. From my Kia dealer, they were about $7 each. Pricey for a simple cartridge, but this way my reciept is from my local dealer, so they will not be questioning that aspect.

I too will be changing my oil myself, as taking it to the dealer is a hassle. I am leaning towards Mobil 1 5w20 EP. First change at about 1000 miles and then every 7500 thereafter. The premium oil is overkill, but again, if there are problems, no one will question the oil quality. (Please don't anyone start a rant about Mobil 1 -- take it to bobistheoilguy if you must!)

Default Ebay Filters OEM

The filters I found on Ebay were genuine Hyundai parts from a dealer who sells over the net. Not a bad idea to buy from local dealer though. I also would not use other than reputable filters and would keep all reciepts and a detailed log of service performed. Have had great luck with new and used parts for high mileage cars off of Ebay. Not quite as paranoid about using on my new vehicles either .... as long as genuine.

George in Wisconsin. Sedona, 2 Spectras, VW Camper bought new in '82.
