Default Kia preparing TSB on 3.8L engine noise

F.Y.I. The following is an excerpt from a notice to dealers preliminary to a formal TSB. Also another notice on minor noises from heat shields. Calls for possible replacement of timing chain tensioners with new style. My van has this noise, but I have not thought it was excessive ...

"This bulletin addresses several (3) noises on 3.8 L Lambda engines used in 2006 Sedona (VQ), 2007 Amanti (GH), and 2007 Sorento (BL).
Some 2006 Sedona (VQ), 2007 Amanti (GH) and 2007 Sorento (BL) with a production date earlier than August 25, 2006, may exhibit engine noise for several seconds on initial start-up that typically sounds like loose timing chains or excessive bearing clearance."

Thumbs up fixed

Had my sedona in for the repair, took about 1&half days to fix. May not be bad now,but how about down the road a few thousand miles. The dealer replaced the timing chain tensioners, changed the oil and replaced some anti- freeze. Sounds good now, hope it last a hundred thousand miles.

Smile Service for Tensioner on Monday

I asked dealer to update my tensioners and have an appointment next week. Will get a loaner car, and is likely to take at least a day. Hope this operation does more good than harm to a vehicle we have been very happy with so far. Our experience with KIA of Duluth's service department has been very good. No wonder we see so many new KIAs driving around this area.

Default Noise issue or a durability issue?

Is this something that will just be an inconvenience due to noise, or would NOT doing this repair possibly speed up the rate or wear with the timing chain tensioner, timing chain, etc.?? I have read this bulletin but didn't fully understand what all the different noises were and the implications on the vehicle if they are occurring.
