Exclamation Vibration on New TS Sedona auto

Bought a new TS Sedona auto, have done 3000 miles with no problems.
Now on 6 occasions have developed an excessive steering wheel vibration when sometimes doing 80 to 90 mph on Spanish motorways, which doesn't disappear when I reduce speed and on braking at 50mph becomes more violent. Appears not to disappear until stationary with engine still running.
Took it to a Spanish Kia dealer for a test run but couldn't replicate the problem.
Any suggestions !!

Default Vibration on New TS Sedona auto

I purchase a new TS in October 2006 and after less than 1,000 miles have experiance similar varibrations at both 70 mph and once at 30mph. If you continue to drive the vibrations gets greater. We have found that it will suddenly disappear after a few miles and may then not happen again foir several days. The car has been with the dealer in Peterborough UK on three occassions but because no fault code is registered and the problem does not happen on test drive they have been unable to locate the problem.

Anybody else having similar problems?

Question

A further note to the above. I have just returned from a journey where the vibrations started at about 70mph. I decided to slow down to see if they reduced and noticed that as I gently applied the break pedal the vibration could be felt through the pedal. It felt like the ABS had come in eventhough I was only gently applying the breaks. I also noticed that once the vibration had stopped (after traveling a few miles)repeating the gentle breaking at the same speed they was not vibration through the pedal.

Could this problem be a fault with the ABS system and that it is being applied whilst driving. I plan to visit the dealer in the next day or so and ask them to check out the breaking system.

Does anyone know of similar breaking faults.

Haven't driven the car for the passed month as it's out in Spain.
Have informed our local UK dealer of the problem. He's investigating whether it's an sticking ABS sensor. Will keep you informed
Many thanks for reply.

Further Update. The car was into the dealers last week and they were able to reproduce the problem on a test drive. They said it was a 'brake switch' that needs adjusting. The car was OK for a week and then the problen returned, but this time there was also a smell of overheated brake pads.
Phoned dealer. Good news they said Kia have identified the problem as a sticking brake problem and are sending out new front and rear brake kits.
Not certain if this is a general recall.
Keep you posted.

The dealer phoned yesterday to say they have received the parts from Kia and the car has been with the dealer today having them fitted. It would seem that they have change both front and rear pads and the rear shoes. This is because Kia have identified the problem as sticky brake pads. Not had a long drive as yet so watch this space!

My Dealer fixed the new Brake parts but this did not fix the problem. In fact it happened more often. They had the car in for another 3 days and have finally fixed the problem. I have now done over 2,000 miles and all OK.

My dealer had another Sedona with the same problem which they changed the brake parts and also adjusted a switch under the break pedal. They said that they only changed the parts on my car. Why they didn't do the adjustment in the first place who knows. Having made this adjustment of a brake switch all now OK.

It may be worth telling your dealer about this adjustment. Hope you get it fixed soon.

I have a new Sedona LX with some 1500 miles but on the highway when I hit about 70 mph--I also feel a rumbling. It goes away when I return to driving under 70 mph?

Jardene,
I am going through now what everyone has written about. I have a 2006 Sedona and the dealer has almost replaced every part in the front end with no success. Can you be a little more specific about how your car was fixed so I can relay this to my dealer. Thanks so much.

Doug
PS: So far you are the only person that has posted once they had their car fixed. The others surely can't be living with the problem?
