Default 2006 Sedona EX / Power Package

Has anyone had issues with the power sliding door on the 2006 Sedona EX?
I just got my van 3 weeks ago and the left (driver side) sliding door does not open completly. When it opens it is about 5/8th open then it just stops. Almost like something is stuck.
Then when I close it, it won't close on its own. I have to assist it in closing. There will be about 6 inches left to close and then it will just reopen. Just like have something stuck between the door and the frame and the door will auto reopen.
Heres the goofy part. I called my local Kia service department and they transfered to their body shop. The body shop said to call back and ask for service. The service dept said to call back next week when the Service manager is in and he will take care of it.
I feel I bought the right vehicle but did I buy it from the right Kia dealer?

My 2006 EX also has a Power Sliding Door problem. The passenger side PSD fails to latch, then automatically opens again and beeps about 75% of the time. This tends to happen when parked on my driveway (which is on a slope (much less than the 30% incline which is supposed to cause PSD problems).

It seems as though the vehicle trys to latch the door and gives up because too much effort is involved! My dealer is of absolutely no use whatsoever, so I'm off to find another dealer.

ubu760: There are specific diagnostic instructions on the kiatechinfo site regarding your problem. I've read them before, but I can't remember what they were!

Smile Door stops for safety!

The door is designed to stop short if the window is open, otherwise a limb or head could be pinched or worse!

Could be the sensor dealing with this is not working correctly if your window isn't open at all.

Sounds like the dealer didn't do his final pre-delivery checklist that is required of all Kias before keys are handed to the customer. Doors are always to be double checked and adjustments made, if necessary. I find many of Hyundai and Kia initial complaints would be solved if the dealers faithfully followed the pre-delivery checklist. They think money is being saved but all that is happening is creating unsatisified people. It gives a bad name to a good product. These are things Hyundai and Kia are working to improve upon. Of course I rather see the cars get their tweaks done at the factory QC level like most Japanese cars. A walkaround at the dealership is still done but fewer problems are found.
