Default This is a VERY long shot....

...but here goes !

I wonder if there are any fellow sedona owning radio hams out there who have managed to internally mount an SGC-231 "smart tuner" somewhere into the back of a sedona, maybe underneath it somewhere ?? perhaps in the offside wing (my nearside wing is too full of jack / washer bottles etc )

If so , care to share any thoughts / images on how you did it please ?

also if you have managed to fit the remote head for an IC-706MKIIG (or similar) somewhere on the dash in a "wife compliant" manner that would be of great interest too.

I plan to fit the two VHF/UHF/SHF triband antennas by modding a pair of diamond K400 boot lip mounts to slot into the roof rail bars and then clamp down - but there will potentially be a foot of cable "slack" which could scratch the roof.

There appears to be two rubber "strips" down either side of the roof rails - is there scope to remove them , fit the cables underneath, then
re-install the rubbers (with some mastic on the ends if necessary)

any thoughts gratefully received !!

regards

BB

Off side is full of rear heater stuff so not sure if there is enough space but there is some. Just take the vent off in the boot area and have a look. I know there is no space forward of this but there might be some towards the aux socket in the boot.

Could you not run the cables down the inside of the roof rails as its a u shape style section?

Hi Simon,

The cables would run through the roof rails, but must then pass into the main body of the car, and that would mean drilling holes , which does not achieve wife compliance. The alternative is around a foot long length of co-ax flaying the roof paint - not an option - and then across the top of the tailgate. Although there are some heavyweight tailgate mounts out there, they wont be man enough for one of the two antennas I need to mount on the roof.

On the outside of the roofrails therea a rubber trim that "appears" to be covering some kind of slot (legacy roof bar fitting ??)) If the cables could run down there then its a done deal...but that seal seems pretty well stuck down ...and two sets of roofbar fittings doesnt make sense to me.

has anyone had this strip off ? whats under it ? reluctant to pull it off till I know

regards
