Thumbs up

Just wondering, it's been said the 06 Sedona can run on regular octane vs. the high test that reflect its horsepower and torque ratings. Have any of you new 06 Sedona owners been feeding the thing regular octane, and if so does it knock ???? I'm not concerened about less power, but knocking and pinging wouldn't make it at all.

Thanks,

J.

Hello,

I have been experimenting with grades of fuel. Cannot tell difference driving but do not drag race or have to merge at high speed. The gas mileage seems to be just as good with regular or mid-grade. As most modern engines will retard the spark advance until no pinging is detected the high test should result in better economy.

Regular grade (87 octane in these parts) allows this engine to run just fine, with plenty of pep! A mix of 87 and 89 has resulted in just under 25 mpg on the highway.

Trip report:

full tanks with 20 mph wind going 70 on 87 octane = 24.5 mpg, return trip with premium against high wind 21.5 mpg. Do not notice much difference in power with high-test. Should probably stick to regular or mid-grade. Anyone else experimenting? George.

Been using nothing but Sunoco 93, PA USA, after the initial two tanks of regular 87. Have noticed an improvement in city mileage. Constant 14+mpg.

Highway mileage is about 24 right now with 1500 miles on the motor. Have noticed an improvement in acceleration both in starting out from a stop and passing/merging.

2006 Sedona Loaded EX in USA....half premium and half regular fuel....carrying about 500-600 lbs of people and gear.

23.5 MPG on highway doing 75-80, engine still breaking in. Much over 80 mph I notice it drinks fuel FAST.

With a full tank if regular 87 I notice no difference in the engine sound of course. I'm not sure premium will pay for itself in MPG.

Default Trip report - mileage on regular

Hello,

Trip to Southern Michigan/Windsor Canada. 1700 mile trip with regular fuel (87 octane with 10% ethanol). Pretty constant 23.5 to 24.9 mpg depending upon wind and hills. No real difference between 63 mph driving on 55 mph limit roads and 70 mph on freeways. Engine at 5.5 K miles to start trip.
