Kia has published fixes for two possible problems with our Sedona Vans. Info follows:

KT2006040701 Language English
Published 4/7/2006 Area N. America
Model Sedona(2006)
Gr./Sys./Comp Suspension System / Front Suspension System / Front Strut Assembly
Symptom SSN001 - Noise
SS1000 - poor or rough ride
Subject 2006 MY Sedona Upper Strut Spring Seat Adjustment Procedure

KIA Motors has identified vehicles that were built between (10/10/2005-04/10/2006) exhibiting a pulling / drift concern while driving. Improper alignment of the upper spring seat plate can cause noise concerns and drift/pull concerns on some vehicles. Confirm that the vehicles tire condition, tire pressure and wheel alignment has been checked and are within specification before proceeding with this repair procedure. To correct these concerns, the upper spring seat plate may have to be repositioned.

Other t.s.b.: A few vehicles have had back lift gate leaks, look at the sealant on body seam in upper passenger side corner, if gap present anywhere needs more sealing compound or water will accumulate in well behind 3rd seat.

My van seems fine with respect to both of these but I will be watching front tires. Suppose the rough ride would come from eventual uneven wear of tires?

Question .....I have regards location peg for front mats. My van does not have the pegs although the mats have the holes for them. My Spectra has both holes and pegs. Do any of you have the pegs? I wonder if mine were not installed by the dealer during prep. A notice went out to dealers to remember to put them in the Spectras. Thanks in advance.

George in Wisconsin.

Thanks for info on 2006 Sedona. I have not had problems with these issues as of yet. How did you come by this TSB did dealer provide. Do they feel that this is on all product runs of Sedona's from 10/05-04/06?

Kia USA website has tech info for owners. This only is for some of the production which did not get proper front suspension set-up. Have not noticed any problem(s) with my van. George in Wisconsin.

these are not bulletins at this time, the leak is found in the technicians news letter called tech times and the strut noise is found in a section called pit stop, before the dealer can perform these repairs they will need to verify the problem, we see and hear a lot of people coming in saying "I saw on the internet that there is a problem with such and such and I want that done on my vehicle" please take this into concideration when reading the post in all forums on the internet

thanks

Dear Skidoofast,

Thanks for commenting. I tried to emphasize that these were "possible problems" with some vehicles. My vehicle does not have either of the possible problems Kia has identified but think owners should have a heads up on any possible problems. I love our Sedona so far but will be suprised not to have a few things go wrong. Do not intend to be bashing the brand in any way.

If owners who have problems can get them diagnosed and fixed quickly they will be happier with Kia. I have corresponded with a lady whose dealer told her she must have a flat area on her Sedona's tires which will go away .... when it could be the front suspension problem mentioned in the kia publications. Dealers and mechanics are not always as aware as you appear to be. Even doctors miss things that a well educated patient might suggest.

Please keep reading and writing in this forum, you have a unique perspective. I have belonged to a VW Van forum which is just about the best information source, used parts market, and even emergency help service around. Only bad thing is that it is hard to keep up with the hundreds of post in a given month.

On a different note seems to me my team swam against the Spuds from Moorhead (?) at an invitational last fall. Not quite on my way to Moorhead but will be half way there as am heading to "Da Range" for a track meet and family party tomorrow in our new Sedona.

George in Wisconsin, two Spectras and a Sedona (last skidoo I had was late 60's with about 13 hp)
