Just thinking, if you could make any mod. you liked to your Carnival/Sedona (from the Kia/Hyundai parts bin) what would it be? For mine, I'd love either the 3.5 V6 out've the Sorento or the new 3.8 V6 out've the new Carni./Sedona, preferably with a 6-speed manual, but I could live with the 5-speed auto. Oh, and 4-wheel discs, a nice set of Mags & Michelins, Pirellis or Bridgestones!

On the Grand Carnival I would put a supercharger, make it all wheel drive, sports exhaust ,lower the suspension, nice set of wheels & yokohama 352 tyres, six spd manual box, sidesteps & a nice bodykit, but it would cost a bomb.

My personal wish is to have a diesel engine option for the KIA. I think if I could just change my unreliable kv6 which is way too heavy on fuel for a diesel I would be soo happy.

Think four wheel (much bigger) disks would be good. Also would love to fit the KIA out with a really good sound system. Sun roof would be so cool.

But alas these are only dreams at the moment with the green beast very dead at the moment. Still waiting, waiting, waiting to hear from KIA. Don't hold much hope. But that is another forum.

Really like the look of the new grand carnival. But actually like the inside set up of the Standar Carnival. Think it suits our family of six.

While more power is always a good place to start when looking at a "wish list" for vehicle mods, I actually reckon the Grand Carnival has plenty of go for the type of driving I am likely to do. The brakes also seem to be up to the job, so...

I would like to pretty it up a bit. Nothing too extreme, but I parked next to a Carnival last week and noticed how stylish and aerodynamic the roof-rails look on that model. Those on the Grand Carnival look like they fell off of a 1980s plumber's van. I would happily remove them if I knew what to expect under them once removed (ie is there ugly holes etc??) Anyone able to advise??

Other mods would be to lower the suspension about 4cms (1.5") (again nothing too extreme), and fit a nice set of alloys, say 18x7.5" with something like 255/50R18s. Just on this, anyone have any idea of the wheel specs (offset, PCD centre bore etc). My guess is that with the move to a 6 lug pattern on a FWD, there is not likely to be very many aftermarket wheel options for this vehicle.

If done right, this could make a very slick looking, nice handling unit which is still entirely usable as a family car.

Bert.

Hi Bert
Try the Bob Jane website, one dealer I spoke to gets their wheels through them & they claim to have fitted a number of different types of wheels. They recomend fitting the same size wheels as the original as this will not affect the speedo reading. They also say it makes te car look 100% better, not that it really needs it.The side steps also make a huge difference to the look of the car.Cheers Len

Hi Len,

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the "Bob Jane" site but there is nothing there which looks like it might suit the Grand Carnival. Most wheels appear to be for Commodore/ Falcon of small FWDs (Civic, Mazda3 etc). Those with a 6 bolt pattern look far more suited to SUVs and may not even fit the Kia (offset issues??). Have also looked at US and Canadian sites, but have not found anything for the 06 Sedona.

I guess if I was really serious about new alloys I could contact a few wheel businesses, but I generally prefer to do a bit more research before talking to the "experts". The info helps when wading through the sales BS.

On the issue of wheel size, I agree with you about keeping the rolling radius of the tyre as per standard so as not to affect the speedo and gearing, but would still prefer to increase the wheel size and move to a lower profile tyre. 70 series tyres on a passenger car just seems too "tall" to me.

Thanks again,
Bert.
