I just picked up an 07 LX. I have torque installed on my phone, thought I'd check out the mpg. Just a 25 mile jaunt (my work commute) and it claimed 35 mpg..
18-22 mpg - 07EX but driving it like a stock car race and with 169,000 miles and original plugs (!?). However, When hypermiling, I got 25 mpg on a hilly 300 mile trip and have been able to get 27-29 mpg on 30 mile trips (zero net elevation change). I run with 0w-30 or 5w-30 full synthetic. So, if you are driving the LX like a mileage contest unloaded on a flat course, 35 mpg sounds possible to me.
Mine is a 2009 Kia Sedona EX with about 240K miles on it but getting about 19 mpg overall with highway driving for the most part with some city as well. On the contrary, with city driving for the most part I get around 16~17 mpg.
Well, After upgrading my phone and losing all my tracking data, I've slowly started keeping track again. Phone is showing me as being right at 30.5 mpg right now, and I expect that to improve another mpg or so on the way home from work. It's a slow, slightly up hill drive to work so I can't hypermile like I'd like to. I'm hoping to break 35ish... and yes, that's in VA on I66 for my commute (for that know, that will be saying something, for those that dont.. well, its not great traffic lol)
Wow, I don't think I could get 30+ mpg out of my van if I dropped it off of a cliff with a tail wind. City driving is 15-17, highway I've gotten up to 24. I am also not the easiest driver. I have a 2011 Sedona 3.5L Lambda II V6 with 76,500 miles on it, 6-speed automatic transmission.
Guys I recently got a used 2010 Kia Sedona LX. For city driving only, the last I calculated was 12.6 MPG. I couldn't believe it. I don't drive aggressively for the purpose of saving gas. I am wondering if it is because I don't give that much warmup time for the engine, it is very cold here in Virginia with temperatures close to or below freezing these days. Also, I would make very short trips, for example, 2-5 miles round trip. Finally, we do have to navigate short somewhat steep hills to go to our house, but of course the one way would be all downhill.
Anyway, besides that I am pretty happy with the LX. What do you guys think? Is it normal?
On our recently purchased 2011 this past summer,...and on its first long trip here to FL,...the 2 tanks were 24.7 and 25 [at 70 mph average]. Our daily average is 18 to 22.
.......and the return trip 2 tanks, were 26.9 [off the major interstate, speed average was under 60..] and another 25 to finish the trip. Well pleased.
Glad that I found this thread since a Sedona is what we are thinking of purchasing. The gas mileage rates I am seeing here don't look too bad to me, but I don't have to drive a whole lot. I imagine those of you with pretty good commutes would like to see your numbers a little higher. Will using products like high mileage oil and gas cleaning treatments improve the miles per gallon ratio?
See my www_Fuelly_com account for my mileage (also not to worry about loosing my data).
It makes a big difference what your ratio of city vs highway is. It's not winter in Canada and have more idling loss in the winter.
If you look at my long term trend, you can see when I had highway commutes and when city ones.
