my thoughts - certainly be 6 speed AT, with the optional 2.0L engine that is going to be available in the new Forte (replacing the current 2.4L optional unit) which puts out nearly the same HP as the current 2.4L engine in the Rondo with perhaps the 2.4L GDI used in the Optima as the optional engine.

Agreed, especially seeing as how the new Rondo is a Forte platform, instead of the Optima platform like the last model was.

The Cee'd shares the same platform as the Hyundai i30, as does a redesigned version of the Cee'd, marketed elsewhere as the Kia Forte, which is not sold in Europe (except for Russia, where the Cee'd and the Forte are available together).
Not quite the same I guess, but they do share a very similar platform.

yes, the new Carens is using the new Cee'd platform which will give it a 50 mm or 2" longer wheelbase than the old model bringing it up to 108.3" (2750mm). The new Forte is 2700mm or 106.3"
